Nate was born with a brachial plexus injury that resulted in partial paralysis of his right arm, a condition called Erb’s Palsy. Despite this, Nate grew up playing a number of sports, focusing on basketball, and was introduced to strength and conditioning as a teen. After years of playing pickup basketball and training on his own, Nate found CrossFit in December of 2012 and his life was changed. The movements and workouts in CrossFit provided Nate with a new challenge for his Erb’s Palsy arm, and it was one that he met head on.
Eventually, Nate became a member of the Back Bay Competition Team and an Athlete Advocate and Competition Team member for I Am Adaptive, a nonprofit organization focused on adaptive athletic awareness. Nate started coaching CrossFit with Phoenix Multisport, a nonprofit organization that provides free fitness programs to individuals in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. Nate is passionate about the development of athletes at all levels and loves seeing people make what once seemed physically impossible turn into reality.
