Jessa grew up in Lunenburg, MA and began life as an athlete at the age of three. She competed in gymnastics for 12 years and picked up track and field in high school and went on to pole vault at the University of Georgia. Jessa graduated in 2008 with a B.S.Ed. in Health and Physical Education. However, with no teaching positions open at the time she continued personal training and became Fitness Director of a gym in Athens, GA. Finally, in the fall of 2010 a friend introduced her to CrossFit. She surprised herself by not only qualifying for the 2011 South East Regional but placing 5th to miss qualification for the 2011 CrossFit Games by only two places. After a move back to Massachusetts the following year she placed 3rd at the 2012 North East Regional went on to place 20th at the 2012 CrossFit Games.
