Jessa grew up in Lunenburg, MA, and began life as an athlete at the age of three. She competed in gymnastics for 12 years and picked up track and field in high school, then went on to pole vault at the University of Georgia. Jessa graduated in 2008 with a BS Ed. in Health and Physical Education.  Upon graduation, she dabbled in a few different areas of fitness, including working for the University of Georgia’s Recreational Department – Intramural Sports, managing a local gym’s personal training department, and competing in an NPC Figure competition. Jessa discovered CrossFit in 2011 and joined Back Bay as a head coach in 2012. She now runs the Fundamentals Program, which was created for anyone who wants to begin his or her very own fitness journey.
